SASANIAN KINGS. Khosrau II, 591-628. Drachm (Silver, 32 mm, 4.14 g, 3 h), LD (Ray), RY 3 = AD 593. Draped bust of Khosrau II to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; behind head, ‘GDE / ʾp̄zwt'’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘hwslwb’ (‘Khosrau’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, ‘TLTA’ = ‘sē’ (‘3’ in Pahlavi); to right, ‘LD’ = ‘Ray’ (‘Ray’ in Pahlavi). Göbl type II/2. Beautifully toned. Minor marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
